We give playwrights the starring role here

Art and expression are accelerating faster than ever. But to create something that can leave a lasting mark on our cultural community, it pays to slow down. The Colorado New Play Summit has been bringing playwrights and audiences together for over a decade to give them the time they need to evolve fresh scripts into production-ready pieces. After workshopping their pieces for a week with professional actors, directors and dramaturgs, playwrights use the Launch Weekend to get the initial feedback that only a live audience can provide. The following week is spent fine-tuning their pieces once more before presenting revised versions to even more theatre lovers on the Festival Weekend.

The readings are only the start

The DCPA is dedicated to nurturing and developing new work. Over half of our readings have gone on to become world premieres on our stages, and many others have been produced by other companies nationwide. Supporting our playwrights doesn't stop when the Summit ends – and you don't have to take our word for it!
